| ISDN2 - Extending service |
| message from Phil Partridge on 28 Jun 2005 |
All,
Need to get an S bus ISDN2 about 160 metres from the 'box'.
Will this run OK over that length of CAT5?
Presumably set switch to 'long' and term to 'off' and terminate at far
end?
TIA,
Phil Partridge

And if Phil meant old ISDN 2 rather than ISDN 2e it's still fine.
I haven't used that much extension wiring personally but 160m
is well within spec, with the switch from S to L required at
150m.

You should be ok Phil, my old BT ISDN2 spec says max 150m with 8
terminals connected with switch to 'short' and links out. Spurs off
daisy chain should be max 1m.
Max distance is 800m for one Type 2 socket with switch set to 'long'.
Got a a few notes/tables in a word doc, if want a copy, drop me a mail.
Si
