Carphone launches Irish service
message from {{{{{Welcome}}}}} on 22 Jun 2005
Britain's Carphone Warehouse has launched its budget TalkTalk fixed-line phone
service in Ireland.

Europe's biggest mobile retailer said TalkTalk customers would be able to call
other TalkTalk users in Ireland or Britain free of charge.

Carphone's move into the Irish market pitches the company against Ireland's
dominant telecoms operator, Eircom.
The retailer is aiming to sign up 2 million customers to its TalkTalk service
in the UK by March 2008.

I have noticed on the www.talktalk.ie website it states that not only can
Irish TalkTalk customers call other Irish TalkTalk customers for free they can
also call UK TalkTalk customers for free too.

Wonder if TalkTalk UK will allow UK customers to call Irish customers for free
too anytime soon?

Obvious, really, that one asks friends and relatives if they are customers
of TalkTalk, or not. Since both parties can get 10 pounds (credit on a/c
for new customer, or cheque for recommender), one has an incentive to tell
those one wants to ring often, and a family with all friends and relatives
also as TT customers would save, as all the normally chargeable calls (to
those landlines) become free of charge, for up to 3 hours per call. Peter

By using TalkTalk's directory. You enter a phone number and they tell you
whether it is on TalkTalk or not.

No it is not a load of bull sh1t.
