e2save, BT Mobile Home Plan 100+, cashback stages
message from tum_ on 23 Jun 2005
Went for a Nokia 6100 on BT Mobile 100 back in Dec. '04
from e2save with their cashback scheme.
J9.99 for the first 6 months, then J25 for the next
6 months and the difference is refunded, so that
those next 6 months still cost J9.99.

6 months passed and I decided to look at the papers
to see if it's time to send the bill to them.

A sheet that came with the phone says there are two stages:
6th monthly bill and 12th monthly bill.
The link in their order confirmation:
http://www.e2save.com/cashback
effectively tells the same.

But I seem to (vaguely) remember that, at the time of order,
it was saying 12th monthly bill only. I also remember
the figure of 93 odd quid (which is exactly (25-9.99)*6).

If anyone is watching e2save conditions closely,
can you please tell me if they ever had 1 stage cashback
or am I just being silly?

Yes, I'm gonna send it anyways. 'though, having read this news group,
I don't expect the money to arrive soon (if ever).

Just the price of recorded delivery ;-) I guess, 3 odd pounds at the
moment?

Yup - I think you're just being silly.

They used to have some cashbacks after 3 months and 6 months (until 25
August last year, to be precise) but then switched all their cashbacks
to 6 months and 12 months and now some of their deals are in THREE parts
(I guess, to standardise cashbacks across the entire CPW group to be in
line with One Stop Phone Shop schedules).

Low value cashbacks (e.g. less than £50) might have been in one go - I
can't be sure as I never really focussed on these deals. However,
cashbacks of the order of £100 certainly weren't.

Incidentally, looking at one such deal just now with £20 cashback, I'm
shocked to see that they require THREE claims for this cash - how
wasteful is that! I think I'll be having a word in their shell-like
about this as I'm sure that they didn't intend to do it this way (as
it's a complete waste of their time also).

Anyway...there's no harm in just sending in your 6th monthly bill anyway
- the worst that they could do is not send you half of the cashback at
this stage. You'd still be eligible to send in your 12th bill for the
full payment if that's what it amounted to. Do it the other way around
and get it wrong and you stand to lose half the cashback.

Although this will only provide up to £30 cover, and not for valuable
items (cash, jewelery etc) and no compensation or consequential loss.
Special Delivery on the other hand covers up to £2,500 for their "before
1pm" service, and is fine for cash/valuables, including compensation
etc. I've had no problems claiming on Recorded Delivery when sending
goods which have a receipt to prove their (sub £30) value.

I've no idea whether cashback vouchers/applications would be classed as
valuables or cash etc.
