Suspending a contract
message from forker on 23 Jun 2005
I'm in need of a new phone since my payg handset has just died. I think
a contract would be more suitable now but I'm going to be out of the
country for 5 months from November. Does anyone know what the deal is
with suspending a contract until I'm back? I know Orange so a student
offer where you can have a 'payment holiday' but the small print says
you can only do this if you have had the contract for more than 12
months. This deal also doesn't include the 6 months double minutes
offer that is available on Orange online.
I can't really afford to write off 5 months of line rental so the only
other option would be getting the cheapest payg handset I can find and
then starting a new contract when I get back.

Orange also allow temporary disconnection as a standard service. You can
freeze your contract for up to 6 months.

When my brother asked them about this, they denied it. He went
Vodafone.
