I've been receiving offensive text messages from 07905 017193
Whenever I phone back the message says the phone is switched off - I
think the person turns the phone on just to send the message then turns
it off again.
Any idea what network 07905 is ?
Any idea what I should do ?

Jenny,
Sending offensive communications of any kind (texts are included in this) is
an offence under the malicious communications act or something. If these are
really, genuinly upsetting you (which Im sure they are) and you feel that
you can contact the police then do so. Obviously wait till you have a few of
these messages on the phone. The police and the networks do take these
messages seriously and can and do prosecute. In severe cases these
texts/calls can be the start of something worse so maybe best to do
something about it now rather than later.
IF you dont want police involved then tell YOUR network about them. They may
change your number FOC. Then, be very carefull on who gets your number. If
you suspect its someone you know, give out your new number to your friends
in "batches". Maybe one batch of 10 people a fortnight. If the texts
transfer to the new number then you have to accept the possibility that it
is someone you know.
IF you dont want to do either of these things then text back the number with
a cut down version of this:
a.. The Malicious Communications Act 1988, which lists offences relating to
sending indecent, offensive or threatening letters, electronic
communications or articles with the intention of causing distress or anxiety
to those receiving them.
a.. The Protection From Harassment Act 1997, under which a person must not
pursue a course of conduct
(a) which amounts to harassment of another person, and
(b) which he/she knows or ought to know amounts to harassment of another
person.
In a similar way is also an offence for someone to pursue a course of
conduct which they know or ought to know will make someone afraid that
violence will be used against them.
a.. The Telecommunications Act of 1984, which states that a person who:
(a) "sends, by means of a public telecommunications system, a message or
other matter that is grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or
menacing character;
or
(b) sends by those means, for the purpose of causing annoyance,
inconvenience or needless anxiety to another, a message that he knows to be
false or persistently makes use for that purpose of a telecommunications
system,"
is guilty of an offence.
I really hope you sort this out. People who cause harrasment to a woman (or
a man for that matter) deserve there balls chopped off!
Dont be afraid of speaking to the police, even if the texts are of a
personal nature, the police have seen worse, beleive me. They will be
sympathetic.

You could also send a text back with the delivery report turned on.
As soon as the texter turns on the phone and recives the text you will be
informed, so that you know the phone is turned on.
Still the best bet is to contact the police, get the S.O.A.B hard and fast.

maybe several people will be already calling/texting him/her to leave off or
else!
maybe a few thousand of them will shut him up!

07905 isn't on T-Mobile directly. I won't say any more as I don't offer
support to abusive trolls.

Perhaps if you stopped trolling and posting abuse Stefan, that would be a
good start.
