The later versions are RSA protected - what are you planning flashing it
with?

Got a terminator and DIV 8.4, but the latest firmware I have is
R1L013....... which works, but Id obviously prefer to get a later version...

You will need some updated hardware like UFS3.

From memory, you'll be ok flashing anything up to R6A using a Terminator &
DIV. Anything beyond that is RSA protected, so you'll either need doctored
flash files or to use a decent flashing device like Twister, Cruiser or
similar.
