| K750i Orange and Davinci |
| message from Si on 26 Jun 2005 |
Hi,
Anyone succesfully de-branded and flashed an Orange K750i with Davinci?
Sony Ericsson K750 USB WMC Device Management (COM7)
and
Sony Ericsson WMC OBEX Interface (COM6)
So which port would I select in Davinci?
TIA,
Si.

Yes i have, well pleased. It takes everything of Orange away, nice icons,
not Orange logo at start up and close down. Also adds two extra games.
When istalling you will have to install the USB drivers for Davinci's
software. at first it would not work, so i put the USB cable into another
port and the PC said found new hardware, then direct it to the directory
where Davinci's software is.
My phone is now how Sony Ericsson intended, not how Orange think i might
want it.

Any help on my port query?
Phone monitor options shows COM1, COM2 and COM7 as enabled, but Device
Manager lists them as above.

Well Si, i am not quite sure why you are having problems with ports. i did
not touch anything to do with ports. I just connected the phone and followed
instructions. The only problem i had was the Davinci software not doing
anything when turning off the phone and holding down the C button. I got
around this by changing the USB port. when doing this the PC said found new
hardware, i then installed the Davinci USB driver called EPIUSB, once i had
done this i turned of the phone plugged in the USB cable and held down the C
button and the Davinci program started.

Mind you, I suppose that once you've customised the phone with new themes
Once you've flashed the phone, ok, you'll then have the standard ones, but
presumably you've got to set up the phone all over again for other things -
orange internet, MMS, text centre numbers again?...

That would be the case for someone who has had their phone for a while. I
got my phone the other day and flashed it on the same day. Yes when flashing
the phone with Davinci's software the phone does lose all orange's settings
and icons. But setting up the Wap internet settings is easy, just go to Sony
Ericsson's web site and use their automatic internet, MMS and email setup.
An if like me i have a folder with all my phone downloaded programs and
themes and just install. Personally i think the phone is much nicer with all
the Orange stuff taken off. Even has an animated Sony Ericsson logo at start
up not the Orange Square.
