| Cost of 0702830xxxx for Orange Talk 120? |
| message from David Hearn on 26 Jun 2005 |
Our local hospital has a "PatientCall" phone service whereby each bed
has a phone with an individual number. Outgoing calls are about 10p per
minute, and I understand incoming are 20p per minute from BT. The
number range for is in the 0702830xxxx range.
Can anyone advise the exact cost of this from a Orange Talk 120
contract? I did see one page which listed 07020 as being 30p per minute
peak, and 15p per minute off-peak. If this is the same for 07028 then
it makes sense to use my mobile for off-peak calls to these numbers.
What I don't want is to get it wrong and find that I'm paying huge costs
for calls to these numbers - far more than just sticking with BT.
Also, are there any calling card services, etc which could make these
calls cheaper? (Either for BT, or for Orange).
Thanks

I thought the BT rate was higher than that? I seem to remember 30p a
minute at all times, or something.
I've used 18866, and I believe it was 15p a minute with them.

Just checked the invoices, and it 1899 I used, and it was 15p a minute,
but the number began 07044140xxx so that might be a different price
range, I don't know.

According to BT, 07044 1 is 'pn1'.
http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/current/docs/Call_Charges.boo/16311.htm
Which is priced at 24p per min daytime, 16p per min evenings and 8p per
min weekends.
So that would make 1899 only worthwhile using at weekends (for that
number). 1899 list 15p per min to "070 Personal" numbers - but seeing
as these on BT can range from 8p to 30p (I only checked a few, so
possibly more?) - I wonder whether they would actually charge a flat
rate for all 070 numbers?

I think you mean weekdays, no? (Which was when I used it FWIW.)

070xx are all charged at the same rate I believe.

I can confirm that it is to any no in the 070 range. I suspect it is a
loss leader!!!

The cheapest supplier of calls to 070 personal numbers is 1899 at 15p a
minute.18866 charge 20p a minute.

Can you confirm whether this is for ALL 070 numbers, or does it vary
depending on the specific code/number you're dialling? BT's prices seem
to vary depending on which range within 070 you're calling.
