Tele2 / Liberty Broadband - Wireless Broadband Coverage
message from galaxy105guy on 13 Oct 2002
If a Tele2 is looking for only 100 people to start up broadcasting wireless
broadband , why are we all queuing up and waiting to use BT's Exchanges?

Signals are transmitted to your PC via an aerial on your roof, rather than
using a dial-up modem, leased line, cable modem or standard ADSL connection.

Great Idea. Probably a decent alternative to ADSL, unfortunately for what I
currently use BTO for it would cost me 94.99 per month and 199 installation.

All extras because I might want to run a webserver and I live higher up than
2 floors.

Big shame Billy. But I would hope the more people who decide to use the
service would drive down the prices.

and no BT involvement :-)

Almost certainly economies of scale would come into it.

Like I said, great idea, just doesn't suit my needs. Open markets are
wonderful, means choice for the consumer.

All it needs is for people to do a bit of research on the alternatives to BT
and post their findings as you have done for all to realise this.

If only Liberty could get hold of the lists of people who have registered for
ADSL, but their exchange has not be enabled. Then we would have REAL progress.
It does look a great idea, and as has been said before more people on it may
bring down the cost, it looks a far better option the BT satellite anyway.

If not a better option than sat then at least cheaper.

I'm sure if Liberty or "the public" push hard enough they will be allowed
access to demand for ADSL figures. After all the figures are in the public
domain via BTs website.
