| Changing MTU on DSL-504 |
| message from Anon on 24 Jan 2003 |
Does anyone know how to change the MTU to 1458 on the DSL-504 through the
command prompt?
I seem to remember there was a post on ADSLguide but I can't find it now.
Thanks in advance

Login to the router using telnet
ip device delete ppp_device
ip device add ppp_device ether //ppp/DEVICE=1 mtu 1458
config save
restart
I tried it but my (Win2K) VPN client REALLY didn't like it so you should
test everything thoroughly.

Tried this and it didin't work for me either. I would think the
commands are somewhat suspect althought the device does accept them.
Had to do a factory reset to get it all working again.
Beware
Cheers, Mike.

Wouldby DRtcp only change it for the PC you ran it on ?
How would it change the router ?

Can you explain to me why would you want to change it on the router? I
would have thought that the router would route the packets in the same
size MTU as it received from the PC's Ethernet card?

I eventually found it on ADSLguide the commands were:-
ip enable ethernet mtu 1458
ip enable ppp_device mtu 1458
