| A very slow service |
| message from Drummie on 16 Aug 2002 |
BTOPENWORLD BROADBAND 'high speed' connection is no longer so.
This service has progressively got worse recently, not to mention the rude
BTOW staff.
I'm very tempted to switch to NTL 1MB service.
BTOW, get your act together, you treat your 'customers' with contempt and
you are
no longer the leader in Broadband services.
NTL and Blueyonder are offering 1MB home services, but I guess BTOW will
catch up about 2 years later
when the pack has moved on much further into technology.
A 'satistified' BTOW user.

: BT have never been the leader in broadband services. Cable
companies were
: offering broadband way before BT catched onto it.
:
BT have been offering multi-megabit Internet services for at least 7
years as we had a 2Mb/s BTnet service at work in 1996 or 1997. Cable
companies were offering nowt then.

I've been with BTOW for a couple of months now and have only had 2 days of
frustration. The rest of the time has been great. I've been online all day
today and everything has been hunky dory (there's a phrase from the past!).
Don't be suckered by the bad things you read here. People are more likely
to post when they have got a whinge to spread.

I gotta say that my ADSL did have a 2 week period about 3 months ago where
it worked flawlessly.
This was BEFORE BT moved the telegraph pole :os

I have been with BTOW for 13 months so I don't think I'm whinging plus BTOW
are considering closing down users who use file swapping programs and have
'doctored' the ports so it downloads considerably slower so other users may
have a 'normal service'.
Other cable companies are now setting the trend and BTOW can't even keep up.
They sprinted out in front and now the other competitors have passed them
leaving BTOW panting for breath.
Or maybe I have outgrown 576k/s??
I think not!!

what makes you think they are closing down users of p2p?
If it is because of a few postings and a certain article on the register
maybe, then wait until it is confirmed. Besides they were referring to BT
broadband anyway which is a different product. I seriously doubt they would
do this.

I've used BT yahoo Broadband for over a year, and I havent had a single
problem that wasnt my fault. And I've just been upgraded to 2mb without a
hitch.
I used BT's dial up service for a few year before that as well and again
I've had few problems.

Really? BT ADSL was available in my city in 2000. You still can't get cable
TV let alone cable internet here. I'm sure BT started BTopenworld before
cable companies (in this country).
