Supplier of low voltage bathroom lights

message from John Rumm on 11 May 2004
Anyone know a supplier of 12V hologen lights with an IP rating suitable
for use in a bathroom, that are surface mounted and do _not_ need to be
sunk into the ceiling?

(in fact a good supplier of bathroom lights in general would be handy -
most places I have looked at so far seem to have a pretty poor range).

I think you can get away with almost any fitting in a bathroom which is 12V
supplied. If I'm wrong, someone will tell me. One approach may be to use
standard SES type (E14?) fittings with 12V bulbs but fed from a 12V
isolated supply. I've so far failed to find SES 12V halogen lamps however.

I agree with you that the selection for bathrooms is pretty poor if you are
looking for IP rated units.
