Replacing service valve - going badly |

OK, the mains is off and I've got the bottom bit off the service valve.
However, the top nut is right under a 90 degree fitting (soldered not
compression).
It doesn't appear to have come all the way off, is it possible to unscrew
the valve from the nut as it were?

Why not just screw the new tap bit onto your old body?
