Have HIS eyes gone a straw colour?

PMD

Peter Hucker replied to Super PMD on 18 May 2004
Never noticed! But I just checked, they used to be orange, and turned straw about 6 months ago (looking at past photos).

Is this an indication of being sexually mature? Does it work with all parrots?

No, not at all, it's an ageing thing with Greys, his eyes will get more
yellow as he gets older, he's still a young teen, they start to get sexually
mature at 4 and fully mature i.e. parental capacity at 6 ?, apparently, ****
my fonts gone mad, they are difficult between 3 and 6 like human teens. :O)

PMD

Peter Hucker replied to Super PMD on 18 May 2004
Macaw is also yellowing about the same.

Never looked up on greys, but I was told a macaw is sexually mature between 2 and 3. And they live longer than greys, so does a grey really only mature at 4-6?

[looks at my other greys]

All straw coloured.

Your Misty could be sexually mature at 4yo till he's 6yo, just like humans
they can mature at different rates. You'll know apparently, they try to
disown their humans as they would their own parents, in favour of someone
else but they can come back to your favour, not in all cases however. I'm
not looking forward to it, he's so aloof anyway.

I have a blue crowned cnoure who was fine with me and the rest of the birds. Got him a mate, he now fights off all other birds (including the huge scarlet macaw!) but is fine with me.

I have a blue fronted amazon without a mate who is trying to **** my neck at this very moment. He's so bloomin randy I reckon I should get him an entire hareem and make a mint out of baby amazons.

My Grey is beginning to molt now, are yours?

Peter Hucker replied to Super PMD on 19 May 2004
None of mine do a big moult. They are all gradual and continuous.

Gary Feckhead replied to Peter Hucker on 18 May 2004

females.

I would like to hear it Spot?

Just for a 90% guess.

Peter Hucker replied to Super PMD on 22 May 2004
Why are you objecting to 90%? £0 90% is better than £22 100%.

I totally disagree, there would always been that 100% doubt in my mind.

Peter Hucker replied to Super PMD on 19 May 2004
It ain't bull****. The heads are a different shape, and females behave more timidly instead of aggressively if you annoy them.

Super PMD replied to Peter Hucker on 19 May 2004
more timidly instead of aggressively if you annoy them.

I'll wager if the vet looked at 10 Greys they wouldn't be able to sex all 10
by sight correctly. True, males have larger squarer heads but how many
people have been caught out by this method, DNA is the only definitive way.
The agression stuff is bull****.

PMD

Peter Hucker replied to Super PMD on 19 May 2004
Yes, but they are right by sight 90% of the time. And as DNA costs £22 a time, I might not bother in the future. With a £1500 macaw, yes. Otherwise no, if I'm in the 10% I just have to buy another. No big deal.

The aggression stuff is correct with all my birds.
