Both problems can easily be solved by having parking points for the
trollies located around the carpark rather than just at the entrance
to the store. The second simple solution is to employ somebody to
collect them up. It isn't difficult to provide proper customer
service rather than pissing people off.

It is, when there are so many lazy go for nothing customers, next they will
want someone to bring them a trolley *as* they park so they don't have to go
looking for one...

The one near me has precisely that.
They have that as well.
There's no need. Trollies should be in the logistically correct
place for the customer. That equates to being at the entrance so
that you collect one on the way in, and a drop point reasonably close
to the parking place when you have finished.
It is perfectly simple for supermarkets and other stores to do this.
All of the supermarkets that I use do so, as do most of the DIY
stores.

Hi,
Taking an empty trolly from near where you park it allows it's
handling and pushability to be checked, plus saves the shop rounding
them up and taking them back.
cheers,
Pete.

I'd shop there !! Time is money and all that *
Also a till girl costs £5/hour or whatever and handles say 10
customers/hour. I'd happily pay 50p more on the total bill not to have to
wait in a queue. Perhaps there should be express queues with slightly
higher prices.
* and to quote Douglas Adams : overtime doubly so.

She costs the store rather more than the minimum wage bill.
There is the cost of the various taxes that have to be paid by the
employer, the cost of the till, and the area which cannot be used for
goods, and other sundry items.
