Greenstar HE+ - Automatic Air Vent Open?

Hello all wise and knowledgeable ones (and all others too ;o)

Yet another question regarding Worcester-Bosch Greenstar Boilers.
I've been reading through the installers guides for my new boiler (HE 40+)
and creating a check list of tasks to be done whilst installing it.
One of parts in the commissioning section is "Check automatic air vent is
open"
As far as I can tell, opening the automatic air vent is achieved by removal
the little plastic screw from its home, is this correct?
Also, if the plastic screw is to be removed during commissioning, does it
need to be replaced at a future point, and if not, should it be kept in a
safe place anyway?

I have a much older boiler - the auto vent started to leak so I was pleased
I had saved the screw cap. The replacement valve also leaked after a short
time. I think my third valve is okay.
Moral - keep the cap and look at the valve from time to time. When it needs
to vent it will be crappy scummy water that eventually signals that the air
is all out - this can play havoc with the valve.

Just loosen it.

Leave the cap off for the first month after filling. Then once the system
has settled and air is out, screw it back up.

Don't take it all the way off, just enough so that it starts hissing. After
2 or 3 days, tighten it back up so it doesn't decide to jam open and empty
your expansion vessel over the floor.
