You don't.

Hi

If you haven't got Excel installed you will only be able to view the file.
You won't be able to edit it.

Corel Quattro Pro will open and edit Excel files, it is very
compatible.

Or go to www.openoffice.org and get Open Office.

Open Office's support for Excel files is flaky at best.

Well with what little experience I've had with it, it seemed to be
OK......and we are talking FREE here......

Gordon;
The Excel viewer is also free.
And since it is a Microsoft Excel product, there will be no flaky
issues at all.

With the viewer, you can not create or modify, but you can view Excel
files.
