Not necessarily a bad thing, but have a bad reputation.^

http://google.com is the place to search for such info. Here's one hit...

yes and also whatever information it can gather from your system i.e. recently viewed pages etc

Every time that you go to a food store and pay by credit card, the system
will be able to work out what you buy, the brands that you choose, and your
probable income level based upon the choices you made.. this is not a bad
thing as it enables the store to better cater for your needs.. you might
take offence at them getting info on you in this way, but lets face it, if
there was a pretty girl outside asking intrusive questions about your buying
habits, you would most likely brush her off.. both ways of gaining knowledge
help in stocking the store to your requirements such that you are a happy
shopper..

Cookies do the same thing on the net.. so you should be a happy surfer.. are
you?

Who says I'd brush off a pretty girl asking questions? ;-)
