windows activation problem

I turned on my computer and have no windows application. Get a screen that says Windows Product Activation. I bought the computer just over a year ago and haven't had to activate. I even try to call the phone # listed to activate as well as doing the online activation but I get a message that says product key activation code is incorrect, and it won't accept another code.
