undeletable folers

I have a group of 5 empty folders that appeared on my desktop that I
cannot delete.When trying to delete them I get a message that says
"cannot delete-cannot read from source file or disk".I've tried
renaming,moving and everything else I can think of but cannot get rid
of these folders.I am running XP Home.Any suggestions that may work
are appreciated.Thanks Mark
