keyboard will not stay on |

Okay, since my files are corrupt, I tried to start WIndows using the Win XP back-up startup floppy used @ A: I set the floppy drive to read first in set up, no problems there. So, when I go to start the computer with the disc in the floppy drive, the disk starts up, but my keyboard shuts off and I cannot use it to choose the entries for what to do. How do I fix that one?!?!
