I have this virus on my computer. Everytime I run a scan, it pops up and my Norton Anti-Virus Software says it is unable to repair the problem. It also doesnt give me the option to quarantine. Whenever I hit ctrl, alt, del to bring up the task manager - it tells me that task manager has been disabled by my administrator. I am the administrator and I haven't disabled anything? My XP system use to boot very quickly. I’d get the BIOS screen, then the Windows loading screen and then the desktop. Recently, I get the BIOS screen and then a Black screen which lasts about 30 seconds, then I get the screen with the white loading progress bar at the bottom. You know the one you would get if you had dual boot and then after you select the partition to boot you get a black screen with a white progress strip. I think you get this after hibernation too. Then I get the Windows loading screen and the desktop. So the blank screen is where the boot menu would be only there is no menu. I tried hitting ENTER during this time and pressing ESC but nothing seems to work. The PC just sits there with a black screen doing absolutely nothing (no drive activity, etc.) for 30 seconds, and then I get a white progress bar at the bottom and then the OS loads like normal. ... Do all of my .dll files belong in the Windows/System directory? If I have .dll files that aren't in that directory, should I put them there? When I try to logon from the Welcome screen I get a message about virtual memory low. When this is cleared I would get an C++ Runtime error with the winlogon.exe file. When this was cleared it would start going to the users screen then bounce right out to the welcome screen. I tried to run the recovery disc from the manufacturer but it said it could not find a backup image. I removed the disc and tried to restart it. Now I get a Windows Product Activation error: "A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for the computer. Error code: 0x800705aa". Not only can I not get into Windows now but it will not boot from a CD anymore. I can not find the error on Microsoft's site anywhere. ... (more)

Just a chance that someone might have had the same problem,have tried the software company but they cannot explain it, the problem is that it can be at any time when converting from avi to dvd the system just freezes, i am unable to move the mouse or make any key entries and the only way out, is turn off the system from the tower,sometimes it just shuts down the system. Most of the time I use Firefox and I want to set it as my default browser, so I go to Start --> Programaccess and -preferences (or something like that, I use the dutch version of windows xp). I don't currently have my windows xp cd as i'm overseas but i can borrow one off of a friend. One time that i attempted to start it i got a message saying that ntoskrnl.exe was corrupt and that i should replace the file. I've tried going into the system recovery with my friends xp cd and i've checked out http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314477 but nothing there seems to work.
