Registry Error - Physical Memory Dump - Help (by =?Utf-8?B?Tm8nbmV0aW5OSA==?= on 10 Jun 2004, no replies)
My computer froze up on me one day and eventually I had to just turn it off. When I turned it back on, XP began to startup for about 10 seconds but then it gave a "hickup" and brought me to a screen stating I had 3 options for startup 1) Safe Mode, 2) Safe Mode with Networking, 3) Normal Mode. I have tried all 3 options and each time the computer goes into this "standby" phase (not really on, not really off) and I get a blue screen indicating I have a "Registry Error" that may have been caused by software or hardware I had installed. I hadn't installed anything. Then it states that physical memory dump has been completed.

here is a link to SpyBot Search & Destroy. Download and install this program, then open, read the info, then run SB S&D..it sounds like you have either a virus, or a spyware/malware/or highJacker..one thing about doing a System Restore, is that if you did have any kind of worm, virus, etc

DCOM conflict with Updates??? (by =?Utf-8?B?TWFtZQ==?= on 10 Jun 2004, 2 replies)
Hello All,

I am having a dcom problem that has reoccured despite conducting a complete format and reinstall of xp and seems to only occur after running Windows Update. Please note that there are too many error logs to paste here. (I have had 21 error logs tonight alone. Contact me if you require any more information. Please dont tell me to 'not worry about it'. System Speaker beeps when adjusting volume in Windows XP (by =?Utf-8?B?b21lZ2Ffdjc=?= on 10 Jun 2004, 4 replies)
Whenever I adjust my volume, the internal speaker in my box beeps (as it would on startup or in BIOS), as opposed to the default WinXP 'ding'. This system beep also comes through the speakers.

I have tried setting the sound scheme back to Windows default, with no avail. I checked to see if the sound that is supposed to result was not inadvertantly removed/deleted and that it still plays. All the correct codecs are in place. I have also searched the registry for anything that looked incorrect. I can't rule out that it is a registry-related problem, but nothing odd stood out. Aside from reformatting (or pulling the internal speaker), not quite sure where to go from here. I've scoured the web end to end and found no solutions, which brings me here. ... (more)
