Whenever I try to open a file within a program, such as Photoshop or Internet Explorer, and I go up one level to the previous folder, the program just quits without any warning at all. I've just downloaded SP1a (took more than 4 hours with dial-up) and install it in WinXP Professional. Because the installing process after download was so long, I disconnected from Internet about 10 mins before it ended. We are running XP Pro and am having problems downloading anything. We get an error message saying "IE was not able to open this internet site. I have a problem with the slow association of jpegs with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 under Windows XP Professional. I have a folder containing about 100 1mb jpegs. When clicking on the folder, each file icon is initially set to unassociated. It then very slowly sets the correct association for each file with Photoshop. Trying to click away from this folder can cause Explorer to crash. The machine (Shuttle SN41G2V2) has 1Gb (128Mb of which shared graphics on motherboard) with an AMD Athlon XP 3000, so I don't think that this is the problem. Indeed, on my old machine (A 400Mhz PII with 384 Mb also running Windows XP Professional), this worked fine. Setting the folder to display thumbnails makes the problem even worse. ... (more) |
