Clicking on MY COMPUTER takes minutes before all the files are displayed. This is particularly after restarting the computer. Once the files are displayed there doesn't appear to be a problem, but the first time after restarting is extremely slow. The system displays a torchlight as it searches for all the files. | Hello, I am currently using Earthlink Dial-up as my internet and I am wanting to have another computer to have access at the same time as mine when its connected to the internet. In the past I was able to run the wizard and have it set itself up, but now a problem has arised. I can not run the Home Network Set-up Wizard. I click the button and it will not open the screen. I tried it every possible way, from the Network Connections window to the Control Panel window and I still can not get it. Can anyone tell me if theres a way to fix this problem with the Home Network Wizard or if theres a manual way to reprogram all computers to reconize the internet from the other system or can some one recommend another program that can do this if manually is not possible? I have an abit NF7-S motherboard which comes with an onboard sound card. When I instaled windowsXP professional and installed all the updated drivers for all my hardware, I cannot get the audio to work. 1 when I installed windowsXP from my cd, I got an error that it could not find STREAMCI.DLL. For the last month I have not been able to move files from one folder to another.I have not been able to move a file of of my desktop to a folder. but I can move files around within a folder or the desktop aslong as i don't try to move them to another folder. when i try to move them in any way my computer locks up, I open up task manager>proformance and the cpu is at 100% I check applications and it sais "drag not responding." | So I did a repair install of xp pro and when it booted up I had a different user icon and all of my files and apps are nowhere to be found. When I check the disk volume on the hard drive it shows that those files are still on the hard drive. They are not in another user folder...and when I use search it can't find them. I downloaded a couple free software recovery programs and it finds these files but I try to restore them I get either an error msg or I'm told I have to buy the real version (instead of evaluation version) to recover my files. There are new viruses out that will cause problems. Don't know how time can effect your ability to get AV software you can purchase and download and purchase software online you have probably spent more time trying to fix your virus problem than you would have just purchasing the software! ...
