control panel not responding |

I can bring the control panel up OK, but only 'add/remove programs' and 'user accts' work. All other selections
result in the 'End Program' pop-up and I have to hit 'end now' to get back into start window.
I'm running XP home.
Any clues would be appreciated

Try booting in safe mode and see if this is working. If yes, boot back to normal and start to close down applications in the task manager. You have to do this one by one to find out which one may cause the problem.
