converting avi to dvd with cucusoft software

Just a chance that someone might have had the same problem,have tried the software company but they cannot explain it, the problem is that it can be at any time when converting from avi to dvd the system just freezes, i am unable to move the mouse or make any key entries and the only way out, is turn off the system from the tower,sometimes it just shuts down the system.
Have tried different software and the same thing happens so must be a windows problem,any help would be greatly appreciated
