can't look at e-mail since upgrading to windows xp

Hello,

I recently upgraded from Win "ME" to "XP" home version. Now whenever I try to look at an e-mail, the computer attempts to start up "Office 2000" (which I've never had on my computer as far as I know) and gets to a point where it asks for a disk to complete the process (I don't have a disk for it..... did Office 2000 get on my computer when I loaded Win XP ?) Any way, I can't look at or send e-mails, and I can't access the address book. I looked in the "Add/Remove programs", and sure enough, there is Office 2000 (an appx 140 megabyte file), but again I don't know how it got there. Can you help ?
