crc error during installation usb memory key 2.0 drivers

Hi all,

Just a first time contributor.

Bought the iomega mini memory key (256 MB) and did try to install it on a Compaq presario 6000 system. It's running a windows XP home edition (OEM) operating system with sp1 installed.
After plugging in the memory stick, it is recognized as a iomega 256 Mb stick and XP starts to install the desired drivers. In the final stage it's facing up a, for me, strange error. A cyclic redundancycontrol (CRC) error. Always thought that this error was related to CD's :(

Because my operating system is a OEM version, I don't have the installation CD.

Does anybody knows what could be wrong?

My compy does have 6 build in USB ports. I tried all of them, disconnecting the perfectly working other USB equipment. De-installing the with a yellow ! at system-hardware mentioned corrupted iomega memorystick.

The stick is working perfectly on several HP and dell computersystems

any help would be welcome

cyclic redundancycontrol should be cyclic redundancy check
