XP pro doesnt start

Hi,
I have xp pro on my pc, I have re-installed xp pro and now when the pc is starting it get to the bit where the screen says xp pro and the blue thing goes across the screen. The screen hangs and the blue thing stops moving. It doesnt get any further. Does anyone know how to fix this?
