Why two profiles? |
| message from Khers Sefid on 04 Jun 2004 |
I had Windows XP Home Editon on my machine, and I repartinoned my Hard
drive (so that would delete every thing on my Hard Drive I thought)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Why is this? How can I get rid of the second option?
(for you information:
If I choose Home Editon I get this error message:
Windows could not satrt because the following file is missing or
corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll )
But Windows XP Professional goes fine
my question is how can I get rid of the second option at the reboot?
thanks in advance
khers

Hi,
There's an entry in your boot.ini file pointing to xp home.
need to make sure your boot.ini is similar to this
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
if you have xp home it should be under [operating systems] you need to remove those lines or comment them out.

Did you enable Hidden and System files in your search/view?
