Windows Tests |
| message from Kyle Kaufman on 08 Jun 2004 |
I couldn't think of a place to put this so I put it here.
I am getting ready to fix 2 of my friends broken down computers. One running
95 and one running 98. I wanted to know if there is a list of things I need
to check before and after fixing them. Please help me :O

Greetings,
MemTest86 is pretty useful,
also a disk check program would be good
(check the make, then download their diagnostic utility)
or use Scandisk if PC still boots.
When fixed, update as follows -
* windows Critical Updates,
* drivers (video, audio, chipset)
* IE6 latest version
* antivirus (try AVG - its free)
* antispyware (AdAware, Spybot Search & Destroy, SPyWareBlaster 3)
* Acrobat, WinZip, Media Player
Note that 95 is not supported anymore...
