Whar are these files? |
| message from Willy on 4 Jun 2004 |
$NtUninstallKB835732$ in Blue (the letters/numbers after $NtUninstall are
random). They all seem to contain same 3 or 4 files. What are these and
can they be safely deleted?

Hi Willy,
These files are needed to uninstall the hotfixes. It's Ok if you
delete them, but you won't be able to uninstall the hotfixes then,
it's your choice.
Good luck

Roger,
Yes they are dated/timed when I DL a bunch of Critical Updates and Service
Packs from the Windows Update Site.
Is there not the ability to be notified when Updates are available like in
Win 98/ME? That used to be in Control Panel but not there under XP.

Hi Willy,
If you want to download the updates automatically, using an account
with administrative privileges, you can right click My Computer,
choose properties, go to the update tab and check 'keep my equipment
updated' (or words to that effect)
Then your computer will automatically download the critical updates
and ask your permission before installing them.
Hope it helps

Roger, Got it set but there was no "Properties" Tab, there was a "Automatic
Updates" Tab where I could check the option you mentioned.

Hi Willy,
Properties is not a tab, it is just a category that comes in the
dropdown menu when you right-click My Computer and many files.
Glad you got it working :)

Your right Roger. I'd went in a different way cause I got my XP set to
Classic.

You bet, Willy :-)
Classic is a nice configuration, though.
It is important to receive the updates as soon as possible.
