Task bar search assistant problems in XP Home

Every time I boot up the search assistant appears on the
right hand side of the taskbar. I right click and untick
the option but it re-appears when I boot up again. It
even comes back if I log off and back on. Does anyone
know how to fix this annoting problem please?
