Make sure your PC is enabled to boot from CD
Hit F12 or whatever takes to interrupt the boot process on your machine and select boot from CD
Put your windows XP cd in (home edition)
Choose to go to the recovery prompt.
You should be in C:\windows now
C:\windows
type 'cd system32' the directory should now be
C:\windows\system32
type 'copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe'
1 file should be copied, now REBOOT!
