System Restore

Try this problem for size!

I decided to clean up the contents of my computer and amongst removing redundant programs, defragmenting the hard drive and using spybot search & destroy i used a free trial of regsupreme to clean up the registry.
This seemed okay at first glance however i found that when using my dialup internet connection, the browser would fail and cause the whole computer to freeze irrecoverably. I've uninstalled and reinstalled my internet provider but with no improvement. Neither can i see the link between the registry clean up and this.
I have noticed other gliches and although i have restored the backups provided by regsupreme my system still fails. The biggest problem is however that i have lost all system restore points!!!!
Can any one tell me how to recover my system restore points without reinstalling a clean version of windows XP ?

thanks
I do not have a DVD writer and have some very large files.

Hi

Tools>System Restore - then they have gone and can't be retrieved. You
should be able to manually create one to start afresh.

Umm! when i go to system restore all the restore points are there but when i select a restore point to go to, the computer goes through the process and on restart says restoration incomplete.

It appears to be unable to find the data to restore to.

I guess i am more concerned about having corrupted anything else and would just like to restore back to a point where i know the computer was okay.

any thoughts??
