Hi,

Go to Start > Run > control userpasswords2
If you have a password, it will ask for it.
Select your account
Click properties, go to the second tab
select others, in the dropdown menu select administrators.
OK your way out.
This should give the account you're using administrative privileges.

Hope this helps

You can only do this if you are already logged in with Admin rights
AFAIK......

Hi,

If you're logged as a limited user, a window comes up asking for the
name of an user with administrative privileges and the password, then
the program comes up.

However, I realize now that in the context of the OP you're right, if
he has no account with administrative privileges then he won't be able
to use this applet.

Greetings --

Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account. By design, the only
way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to reboot
into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the
Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.

As you don't say what version of XP you have, do the following:
In Home edition, boot into Safe Mode and log on as Administrator.
In Pro, at the Welcome Screen, press Ctl-Alt-Del twice and type in
"Administrator" in the username box. (In both cases lave the password field
blank unless you know otherwise). When logged-on, you can create a new User
with Admin rights.

BTW, you CANNOT remove the in-built Administrator account AFAIK.
