I use a portable harddrive, it's not the cheapest way but if you do get
one and use it, you'll find many other uses for it!

Use a cross over cable. This is different than a patch cable. A cross over
cable can be purchased in a wide variety of lengths. In your case a 3-6
footer would be fine. This type of cable allows for one way data transfer
between computers. Another way is to burn it then copy it. You could even
get a jumpdrive to copy data to for transfer
