Post any error messages you recieve, try to be exact, particularly if they provide a number.
Are you able to log in under safe mode??
If so, and you are not getting any error messages, go to>
Your desk top>right click 'my computer'>properties>advance tab>startup & recovery>settings> place a check in all the boxes?click okay
Then on the same 'advance tab' page, click error reporting>check 'enable reeor reporting, and check both boxes below it.
Then, you should recieve an error message the next time you have the problem.

When you try to log on to their accounts, what happens, specifically? What does the screen do/look like?
Are their names present?

Did you upgrade you pc with a newer version of xp? add any software? change the resolution?

It wouldn't allow me to log into my son or daughter's account at all. My
husband's account had the standard Microsoft colors and background, from the
original Window's classic theme.

I checked errors under Computer Management and it stated that log in
failures for both children had occurred due to wrong user name or password.
Neither account has passwords and don't need user names, I have their
picture on their accounts so they can click on it to log in.

I had tried to uninstall a flatbed scanner, but when I had clicked on that,
it kept installing or reinstalling NVIDIA drivers. I believe that is what
started all the errors to begin with.

I wound up fixing the problem by using a restore point from two days prior
and the restore reset all their things. Then manually removing the flatbed
scanner from the registry after I backed it up. Now everything seems to be
working just fine.

Bravo! I'm glad it was resolves, thanks for posting back with the results. No one ever seems to, and it gets a bit frustrating..not knowing if the advice helped or not, or if, like you, they came up with their own solutin. Now, others can learn from you. Thanks again.
