Hi

Try a System Restore back to a date when your system was working properly.

Hi Will,

I tried that to no avail but funnily enough all of a sudden it came good
about two hours later. Beats the hell out of me! Also two other things that
it did---It would cancel a full intentionally saved scan disk on startup and
I couldn't restart from the start menu--only shut down. In the start I did
get a popup saying I had held the shift key for more than 8 seconds and
that's when the trouble started.

I still would like to know what happened and how to prevent it happening
again.

Thanks anyways,

Mick.

Hi

Holding down the right shift key for 8 seconds should bring up the
FilterKeys screen - left shift doesn't do anything (by itself). I can't see
that those are going to cause any problems, unless you were in a particular
program at the time which objected to the 8 seconds.
