Remote Desktop Connection

I am trying to make a remote desktop connection to my work pc, from my home
workstation, and can't seem to login?

I can connect to the network using VPN, and and actually connect to my work
pc, but when i enter the username and password, i get the message that
either the username or password is incorrect. I know my domain password
works, because i use it every day. I verified the local username and
password are correct, but i still can't login?

I tested remote access from the office locally, and it worked. The only
problem was i got the message saying someone, (me) was currently logged in,
and by logging in the currect session would be logged out. So i logged out
and was able to connect successfully.

I'd like to avoid using pcAnywhere to connect to my work desktop, so has
anyone had this problem?
