hi,
it might be a jumper setting on the drive, some drives like an ibm can be jumpered to only show 30gb even thought it can be of a much higher capacity. this i think was done as certain os's couldn't see the extra space beyond a certain capacity.
also may want to check your bios as well to see if it sees full space. set it to autodetect then on post it should report drive and as it boots might get a screen where it will show you capacity.
