Hi Bob,
It's a virus (trojan, actually). Restart the system in Safe mode, delete
both the file wherever it's found, and the startup reference in the registry
(start/run regedit). To force a safe mode boot, start/run msconfig and
enable /safeboot on the boot.ini tab. Reverse these steps to restart
normally later. The startup reference will likely be found in one of these
keys of the system registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg

Rick,
Thanks for that. Started in safe mode, and it`s now gone. It seems firewalls
and virus checkers are not foolproof!

Hi Bob,
No, they aren't foolproof, and diligence on the part of the user is the only
way to ensure a system stays secure. Glad you got it cleared up.
