Remote Procedure Call error

message from =?Utf-8?B?UE1E?= on 1 Jun 2004
When I try to download updates for Windows XP, I get an error. It tells me that "NT Authority\System" has encountered a problem, and that the "Remote Procedure Call" is being closed. My system then reboots. Why is this happening and how can the problem be fixed?

Greetings --

If you connected the PC to the Internet without having first
enabled a firewall, without having first installed an antivirus
application with current virus definition files, and before installing
the KB828471 Hotfix, you're very likely to get infected from any of
the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly broadcasting
the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few seconds of
exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.

you have a b laster worm. go to security down loads and try to down load the update for this worm. Can it still be a blaster worm? Since my computer had to be restored(2 days ago) to rid it of the W32.bobax.c. Is it possible for a virus to still be resident? Even after a full restore?

Greetings --

No, the worm didn't survive the system restoration. You simply
got infected again as soon as you connected the computer to the
Internet. It takes only a few seconds of unprotected exposure.
