This should be set to
%1
at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\DefaultIcon (type regedit in Start Run)

I really don't know what to do, i hope i don't have to do a full reinstall, as it is very hard to locate the aplications this way.

Do you have any other ideas?

Where are these icons not being shown? What did you do in tweakui?
Be specific and give details.

Well, everywhere in explorer, every exe file has now the default icon

I really have no idea, nothing works...
I know more people had this problem, i've found some other posts, but none with a solution...

Is there a way to override the exefile in the registry or something, maybe i can try to recreate it with a different name or something to see if it works...

Goto
HKCR\.exe and make sure the default value is set to exefile.

Login a differnt admin user. Delete your icon cache file. It is read at =
logon and written at shutdown. Are these applications or shortcuts. =
Start Menu things are shortcuts while some applications are in the =
windows directory. Which one is blank.

Ok, i really never knew what the heck happened, but i patched it
horribly and it worked.

I just changed the .exe's default value to "exephile" and made a new key
with that name that handled the .exe files ( i don't even made a new one, i just made a copy of exefile ).

There was something that was @*#!-ing up the exefile, but i could not find it. Anyway i think i'll have to make a fresh install in the next months, my current installation is getting pretty crappy.

Thanks for all your help David, and Ricky too.

Go here and get tweakui and try repairing the icons..

| Thanks for your reply, but the registry already has that value set
correctly, as i tried that too, and the problem persists....
