Re: Hardware error 0502 on lexmark 5150 now dell marketed |
| message from Navin R. Johnson on 30 May 2004 |
I have fixed this problem by cleaning and re-lubricating the rail that
the print carriage rides on. I used a silicon lubricant but any good
ligh machine oil should work. As for removing the carriage, good luck.
I'm pretty sure you have to disassemble the entire printer to get it
out. And as for the decoder strip, I believe it's the thin mylar ribbon
cable that attaches to the carriage. If it becomes loose or falls out
you'll get the same 0502 error.
Good Luck,
NRJ

Thank you so much for answering my question. I did find
an excellent kb article on Dells support page. The link
is:http://support.dell.com/us/en/kb/document.asp?
dn=1080620#Sectlink It was very easy to follow since it
had pictures. I repositioned the encoder strip and it is
working fine now. Thanks again.
