Thanks

Right click the appropriate icon and select delete.

Right clicking & deleting works for the immediate case but the program launches again on reboot. How do you keep it from coming back?

Hi
Right click on the Quick Launch Bar and select Open Folder. Delete any
reference to the appropriate program from there.

It seems you aren't referring to the quick launch bar (just to the right of
the start button), but are instead talking about the notification area next
to the clock. In that case right click on the icon and select preferences or
options. Most programs have a run on startup facility that can be disabled.
Every program is different, so you may have to dig around in the settings to
find it.
