Chris,
It would be great if there was any other way than what Rick has
suggested, but the cold hard fact is that he is correct, and has given you
web sites to assist in your troubleshooting. This type of problem you are
experiencing can be a real headache, for even an expert. But, to start with
make sure you have all the latest drivers for Video, Sound, Motherboard
(Google can be very invaluable for finding Mfgrs sites, and typing in
various error messages, and doing a search), and a local computer shop can
possibly check your Ram(Memory)...I had a similar problem, and a Memory
diagnostics found NO errors, so I moved on. However all other areas came up
OK too...I even used Microsoft support... so I exchanged the ram, even
though it checked out good, and was practically new. No more problems...go
figure. Also, there are logs stored in the event viewer (Contrl panel, Perf.
and Maint., Admin. Tools, Event Viewer)...I feel your pain, but sometimes if
you are not comfortable with doing what is suggested in Ricks advice, and
have little or no computer experience, it is best to take it to a reputable
shop. My local shop charges a minimum bench charge of $40, but it will vary
from shop to shop...Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck.
Willie
