Micrsoft Works Update

Every time I open Winword, I get a message from my Startup controller
saying that Microsoft Works Update Detector is trying to write itself
into my System Startup and asks me if that is OK ... I always tell it
"no" ... is there any way to make Microsoft Word Update Detect quit
trying to write itself into my System Startup permanently? Thanks
