My Documents duplicated?

Hi there,

I am new to using Windows XP, and I saved a copy of a database in the My Documents and Settings, as it is a shared database. That Folder is seen in 2 places - the desktop and in the hard drive. I have since discovered that there are 2 databases with the exact same name in the exact same location on the computer, showing exact same time of access, etc., but each database contains different information. How can this be?
